Abraham King

Abraham King is the moniker of Adam E., who plays haunting, psychadelic folk music. Expect some sort of release through Hot Air Press sometime in the near future. For now, he has quite a few songs up on his page and can be found playing shows with a full band.

Angleworm

Angleworm are a ska-influnced punk band from New Haven county, with a good sense of humor and an undying love for The Clash. After putting out several albums themselves, the local label Triumph of Life released “…Ruin Your Scene” on CD, in addition to a limited cassette of acoustic songs. They recently recorded a new record as well, strangely titled “Post Rock”, which you can download for free here. Recommended for fans of both the Operation Ivy and Choking Victim family trees.

Open Star Clusters

Open Star Clusters are a spastic noise rock band with a lot of percussion, angular guitars and yelling (think AIDS Wolf, or a very early Animal Collective). They are a part of the Tape Reels For Eyes collective and are releasing a full length album very soon.

Jettison

Jettison is a punk band that is best likened to Jawbreaker, Small Brown Bike and other bands of that nature. They have an EP out called “Drag” (which you can download for free from their page) and are currently writing for a full length. They really like Jawbreaker.

Titles/First Aid Kit

First Aid Kit were a five-pice post punk band, very similar in sound to Q and Not U and other Dischord/DC indie bands. They were only around for a few years, forming in 2001 and disbanding in 2004 after a U.S. tour with Finch and Recover. The guitar player from FAK, Brad Amorosino, went on to form Titles as the primary songwriter. Their s/t album was released in September of 2006 and since then they’ve also released a 7” split with Mountain Movers, another LP titled “Up With the Sun” and they are now working on a third one.

Friendly Fire/De La Boca

Friendly Fire/De La Boca (the Spanish was added after discovering the original name had already been used many times over) is a noisy punk band originally from West Haven, although members are now scattered across New England. A few years back they dissolved after home-recording a full length (“I Ride the Bay”) that never surfaced, but it seems they’re working on new material again. Live shows include lots of shouting, chorus pedal abuse, Sonic Youth/80’s punk covers and plenty of amp destruction.
